The Centre for High Defence Studies (CASD), the Italian Ministry of Defence and ESA are pleased to announce the inauguration workshop of the Ambassador Platform for Dual-Use Space-based Services (APDUSS) on the 1st of February 2012 in Rome.
Introduction
The objective of the workshop is to understand how services based on space system can fulfil the various needs of Defence and Civilian Users. The workshop will provide an overview on Dual Use Applications at European and Italian level. Special focus will be dedicated to telemedicine as well as marine safety and security.
The workshop also plans to discuss potential applications in prison environments and refugee centres and will try to assess how the utilisation of satellites could facilitate the link between doctors and patients.
Furthermore applications addressing the operation and implementation of vessel monitoring in open waters and ports will be presented. This session also plans to outline the dual-use of combined satellite systems for maritime navigation.
