Munich, 24th-25th September 2009
The workshop, organised by Logistik Kompetenz Zentrum, Prien am Chiemsee, in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), will be held at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, in Munich.
Hazardous goods transport is a major concern for security & rescue services, infrastructure, environment and of course for the population. However, despite its risk there is no satisfactory integral solution providing optimal preventive support for the daily business while offering support in case of emergency.
The importance of preventive measures concerning the transport of hazardous goods at national and international level is constantly rising. Is it possible to build sustainable services for the monitoring of hazardous goods transports in the Alpine region based on terrestrial and space-based technologies?
Thus, there is the objective of establishing an integral European management service for hazardous goods transports.
The aim of this workshop is to present the current situation to all concerned stakeholders, giving them the opportunity to express their can present their needs and requirements for a sustainable design together with the deployment of such a service. This feedback will be used as input for the following steps, i.e. a feasibility study on the service followed by a demonstration project in the Alpine region (Tauern Axis).
