The objective of this IAP (ARTES element 20) Feasibility Study is to assess the technical feasibility and commercial viability of space based services improving Search and Rescue (SAR) operations at sea. SAR operations at sea are highly weather dependant. To make the right choice of intervention means, to optimise the speed of operations, to secure maximum effectiveness without endangering the life of the rescue teams, a very accurate near-real-time meteorological service must be available at small scale and short notice.

The overall goal of the IAP programme (ARTES Element 20) can be summarised as "the development of operational services for a wide range of users through the combination of different space-based systems".

31 December, 2012

The SATCOM-APPS programme (ARTES Element 3-4 Applications) has been created to support applications projects related to satellite telecommunications either originated by industry in response to a permanently open call, or in response to specific applications calls initiated by ESA.

31 December, 2013

ESA has negotiated agreements with European satellite operators to facilitate ARTES applications projects (presented in response to the IAP and SATCOM-APPS Open Calls) to have access to their satcom capacity and, if applicable, to their associated communications service.

The objective of this IAP (ARTES element 20) Feasibility Study is to assess the technical feasibility and commercial viability of space based services supporting and improving piracy prevention and commercial navigation in insecure waters. The user community for these services include ship owners, ship brokers, maritime insurance companies, coast guards, regional anti-piracy centres, antipiracy coalitions, international organisations and civil authorities.

The objective of this IAP (ARTES element 20) Feasibility Study is to assess the technical feasibility and commercial viability of space based services improving the forecasting of avalanches and associated warning services at regional and local level.

This ITT for IAP Feasibility Studies aims at developing a private medical assistance service based on a remote interactive medical solution for isolated environments (Remote Control Aid).
